Escape to Woodstock for a Fun Walking Tour Through Its Historic Streets and Royal Charm
Escape the hustle and bustle of the city with this walking tour of the picturesque town of Woodstock.
Woodstock is a historic town in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds and has a distinct Royal heritage, containing many attractive period buildings: the 18th century Town Hall; the Church of St Mary Magdalene with its Norman doorway, early English windows and a musical clock, which plays tunes hourly.
With a history dating back to Alfred the Great, this fascinating tour takes a turn around the 17th century buildings and streets of this charming town.
It grew up as a coach stop around the Royal Hunting Lodge, which later became the site of Blenheim Palace, home of the Dukes of Marlborough since the early 1700s, and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.
Our expert guide will take you to the places where James I ordered the wrong mulberry trees, where smallpox victims were treated, and the old coaching inns as well as the places of business for the people of Woodstock, such as the Old Smithy and the Glove Factory, all in the heart of the beautiful Cotswold countryside.
